last january 21, 2009, the board of directors ADNUGAA made a courtesy call on ateneo president fr. joel tabora, s.j.
we exchanged views on the current state of ateneo de naga, particularly the declining enrollment at the high school. this is partly due to the improved quality of public education (naga city science high school particularly and partly due to the fact that the cost of education has really increased.
it is in this light that he brought the idea of setting up a solidarity fund.
the concept is more of the getting small doantions from a wide base of alumni to send high school kids to ateneo. unlike the endowment fund where the fund is staggering, the solidarity fund can accept small amounts like 100 pesos so long as it is a constant (read:monthly) flow of 100s or other cash amount.
this is one project we may work on.... as a batch.
the general alumni has agreed in principle to spearhead the fund drive pjaa-style. we shall work out the mechanism when we meet this january 30, 2009.
maybe we can do our own version this february 6, 2009.
