25 years

March 20, 1984.

It has been twenty five years since we walked the Four Pillars.

Full of hopes and dreams, we left the portals of the Ateneo de Naga eager to make a difference and confident that with the catholic jesuit education... we were ready to conquer the world...

armed with the the firm determination, we raged against the many storms in life, we held on to our dreams, even if we faltered and hesitated many times.

we had our friends, families and classmates who believed in us...

just as our teacher first believed that no matter how many times we could'nt get the equations right nor how implausible our arguments were, the ateneo spirit shall make us move on,

.... undaunted and unbowed.

we were impelled by the call for excellence, and indeed we imbibed the ateneo spirit wherever we were.

and anywhere we went, we so proudly bear the seal of excellence, a seal that is distinctively Atenean....

As Ateneans, we are called to a life of excellence. Excellence not for irs own sake but excellence in service.

we were taught that as we strive for excellence, we work for the greater glory of God...
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!

we do not seek glory for its self or for personal aggrandisement. we are here for a cause far greater than ourselves.

we do not work merely for ourselves, we ought to work for the kingdom of God, "seek first the kingdom of God!".....Primum Regnum Dei!

this we remember as we retrace our steps and go back to our roots...

after 25 years, as we sing the Regnum Dei, the Ateneo March becomes more significant as we join together and sing.....

From Isarog to Bikol land to lofty Mayon Peak
Our flag is carried flying high in victory or defeat.
And never have we furled it yet in spite of foeman’s might,
We’ll cheer our men unto the end,
We’ll cheer them as they fight.

Here’s Ateneo’s marching song.
We sing of victory.
From childhood days to youthful years
High shall our purpose be.
Regnum Dei is our cry.
Our fame and glory too.
We’ll fight and win
Or fight and die!
Ateneo for God and you!
